Amber Stott - 2026 update! | Founder of Food Literacy Center
Bailarín Cellars celebrates those who do what they love. Their passion for life is unstoppable and their enthusiasm is infectious. We celebrate these heroes and learn from their words of wisdom as we chase our own pursuits.
This month we celebrate Amber Stott, Founder of the Food Literacy Center, for her incredible 501c3 organization in Sacramento that inspires kids to eat their vegetables. Amber was our first ever Hero feature in 2015. Since then, FLC has grown to having programs in 40 schools in the area! 95% of their students bravely eat a new eat a new fruit or veggie in program every week. Five years ago, FLC built their cooking school at Leataata Floyd Elementary School which has helped their reach to flourish. In the age of ultra-processed unhealthy food, Amber and team’s impact has never been more important and we are proud to highlight their great work.

WHAT MAKES YOU DANCE?
“I still get giddy seeing a first grader eat oatmeal for the first time, or a sixth grader discover they like purple cabbage.
10 years later, I do a daikon dance when a former student asks for a college letter of recommendation to study nursing or a chef tells us someone listed our program on their resume to work at a local restaurant. Our students are sticking with the healthy messages they've learned in our programs.
I also do a watermelon wiggle every time a parent tells us their child asked to cook one of our recipes at home--and that the whole family loved eating the healthy meal.
As we grow, our program has shown consistent success in inspiring kids to eat their vegetables. That's only possible because of the caring humans who volunteer, donate, and dance alongside us to make these moments happen! “
